TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE 2 : Week 3(24/11/25-28/11/25)

During the week from 24th November 2025 to 28th November 2025, classes were handled for Class VIII (Division A) on the unit Ratio. The lessons focused on strengthening students’ conceptual understanding and improving their ability to solve problems related to ratios. Various topics such as Three Measures, Problems on Three Measures, Parts of a Line, Parts of a Triangle, and Problems on Parts of a Triangle were covered in Lesson plan 11-17 using different teaching strategies. Drawing activities, problem-solving sessions, inquiry-based learning, and ICT tools like PPT were used to make the lessons engaging and effective. These methods helped students visualize concepts clearly and apply ratios confidently in different situations. Students actively participated in classroom discussions and activities. Most of them were able to solve problems independently by the end of the week, while additional support was given to slow learners through guided practice. Substitution periods were also uti...

TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE 2 : Week 2(17/11/25-21/11/25)

During the week, I taught the unit Ratio covering several interconnected topics with specific lesson plans. The lessons included Lesson Plans 3 , 4 and 5 on algebraic ratios and problem‑solving, aiming to help students write ratios with algebra and apply them to solve problems. I used step‑by‑step revision, variable representation, and simple examples, which enabled students to identify and use algebraic ratios effectively. Another focus was Lesson Plan 6 on changing ratios, where the objective was to understand how ratios change when quantities are increased or decreased. I explained the concept with examples, used group activities and activity cards, and differentiated between changing and equivalent ratios. I also handled Lesson Plans 7 & 8 dealing with problems related to changing ratios. The aim was to strengthen understanding by giving practice with simple to difficult problems, using revision, step‑by‑step solutions on the board, and pair work. Additionally, I taugh...

TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE 2: Week 1(13/11/25 - 14/11/25)

The weekly reflection for 13/11/25 – 14/11/25 covers two teaching days for Standard VIII, Division A. On Day 1 (13/11/25, Thursday, Period 3), the unit was Ratio and the topic Multiplicative Comparisons (Lesson Plan 1). The lesson introduced ratios by linking them to everyday experiences, using real‑life comparisons, mathematical representation, and group activities where students found the ratio of two quantities. The atmosphere was interactive and student‑centered, making the experience meaningful and enriching, which boosted my confidence. The lesson laid a strong foundation for the chapter, but a few students needed extra reinforcement, prompting me to plan more individual practice. Overall, the lesson was successful. On Day 2 (14/11/25, Friday, Period 2), the unit remained Ratio but the topic shifted to Algebra (understanding ratios using algebra, Lesson Plan 2). I revised the previous day’s concepts, introduced algebraic symbols slowly, and gave activities to express ratios with ...
