TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE 2: Week 1(13/11/25 - 14/11/25)

The weekly reflection for 13/11/25 – 14/11/25 covers two teaching days for Standard VIII, Division A. On Day 1 (13/11/25, Thursday, Period 3), the unit was Ratio and the topic Multiplicative Comparisons (Lesson Plan 1). The lesson introduced ratios by linking them to everyday experiences, using real‑life comparisons, mathematical representation, and group activities where students found the ratio of two quantities. The atmosphere was interactive and student‑centered, making the experience meaningful and enriching, which boosted my confidence. The lesson laid a strong foundation for the chapter, but a few students needed extra reinforcement, prompting me to plan more individual practice. Overall, the lesson was successful.

On Day 2 (14/11/25, Friday, Period 2), the unit remained Ratio but the topic shifted to Algebra (understanding ratios using algebra, Lesson Plan 2). I revised the previous day’s concepts, introduced algebraic symbols slowly, and gave activities to express ratios with variables using simple examples. Most students participated actively and grasped the idea; a few initially found variables difficult but understood with guidance. The lesson was well planned and effective, helping students build confidence in using algebra for ratios. I noted that additional practice with algebraic expressions is needed, so I will provide more examples and individualized practice. The lesson was successful.

Overall, the two‑day sequence created a smooth progression from real‑life ratio comparisons to algebraic representation, fostering an engaging, student‑centered environment. The strengths were effective planning and active participation, while the improvement area is offering extra individual practice for students needing reinforcement with algebraic expressions.
