TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE 2 : Week 2(17/11/25-21/11/25)

During the week, I taught the unit Ratio covering several interconnected topics with specific lesson plans. The lessons included Lesson Plans 3 , 4 and 5 on algebraic ratios and problem‑solving, aiming to help students write ratios with algebra and apply them to solve problems. I used step‑by‑step revision, variable representation, and simple examples, which enabled students to identify and use algebraic ratios effectively. Another focus was Lesson Plan 6 on changing ratios, where the objective was to understand how ratios change when quantities are increased or decreased. I explained the concept with examples, used group activities and activity cards, and differentiated between changing and equivalent ratios. I also handled Lesson Plans 7 & 8 dealing with problems related to changing ratios. The aim was to strengthen understanding by giving practice with simple to difficult problems, using revision, step‑by‑step solutions on the board, and pair work. Additionally, I taught problems on ratios in triangles (right‑angled), using triangle cut‑outs to make the lesson interesting and showing how ratios find unknown sides. The week also included lessons on three‑measure ratios (problems with three quantities), using real‑life examples like milk‑water and lemon syrup to apply changing ratios and introduce three‑quantity ratios in Lesson plan 9 and 10. Overall, the lessons were productive, improved students’ understanding and confidence with ratios, and highlighted the need for more practice with algebraic expressions and real‑life applications.
