TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE 1 Week 4 (11/8/25 - 16/8/25)

In Week 4 of my teaching practice, I experienced a dynamic blend of challenges and successes while handling Standard VIII‑A mathematics classes focused on polygons and related algebraic concepts. The week began on Monday (Day 14) with Lessons 20 & 21, where I taught Problems on Difference of Squares and a Calendar Problem. Students were initially passive, especially in the 6th period, but relating the topics to real‑life situations and using group activities with calendars sparked active participation and improved attentiveness, aided by valuable feedback from Aswarya Miss. On Tuesday (Day 15), I introduced the new chapter Polygons with Lesson 22, employing the Concept Attainment Model; students constructed the concept through examples and non‑examples, which clarified their understanding. Wednesday (Day 13) was marked by a school strike, so I used the time to revise previous topics, clear doubts, and build rapport with students through informal discussions. Thursday (Day 17)...

TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE 1: Week 3 (4/8/25 - 8/8/25)

In Week 3 of my teaching practice, I focused on the unit Square Identities, covering topics like Square of Differences and Problems on Difference of Squares for Standard VIII‑A. The week started with Lesson Plan 12 on the Square of Differences in Period 6, where students showed good interest and solved problems correctly, making the class smooth and boosting my confidence in managing them. In the 7th period I took a substitution, using games and word puzzles to keep students attentive and engaged, which gave me valuable experience in cooperative classroom strategies. Subsequent days included teaching Lesson Plans 13‑19, handling Problems on Squares of Differences and Difference of Squares with both traditional and ICT‑based methods. Students participated actively, asked questions, and worked independently, which strengthened my lesson‑delivery skills. The week also involved coordinating a Hiroshima Day special assembly, organizing a quiz, and managing an Eye Camp, assigning duties for ...

TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE 1 Week 2 (July 28 – August 1, 2025)

In Week 2 of my teaching practice (July 28 – August 1, 2025), I immersed myself in the Square Identities unit for Class VIII, Division A, handling multiple periods and diverse activities. I arrived punctually each day, completed attendance, and attended prayers/assemblies. My lessons included Lesson Plans 4 to 11, covering topics like Square of Numbers ending in 5, Problems on Square of Sums, and Remainder of squares on division by 3. I used PPTs, charts, and activity cards to make concepts visual and engaging, which kept students attentive and encouraged active participation. I also managed substitution classes once for a hygiene awareness session in Class VII and other times for additional math lessons where students cooperated well and solved problems confidently. Besides teaching, I supervised exam duties, handled SPC selections, and participated in special programs like newspaper distribution. The experience boosted my confidence in classroom management, discipline, and using...
