TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE 2: Week 5 (12/1/26-16/1/26)

The teaching experience from 12/1/26 to 16/1/26 (Days 16‑20) focused on parallelograms for Standard VIII, Division A,  covering diagonals, constructions, properties, and area using Lesson plan 21-25. A constructivist model was used throughout the week, combining explanations with diagrams, hands‑on activities, group work, and real‑life situations to help students build their own understanding. Key learnings included the properties that diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other (students actively participated and grasped the concept well), construction of parallelograms using diagonals and angles (most students followed the steps, with a few needing extra practice for accuracy), the midpoint theorem for parallelograms (activities helped students apply the idea of parallel lines formed by joining opposite midpoints), the fact that equal diagonals imply a rectangle (students linked parallelograms to rectangles), and the area of a parallelogram equals base × height (group discussions with real‑life examples made the concept memorable). All lessons were effective, productive, and satisfying; students were attentive, answered questions properly, and gained confidence in constructions and problem‑solving. Improvement suggestions include adding more hands‑on activities and ensuring extra practice for construction accuracy to further strengthen learning. The teacher also handled substitution classes and other duties alongside regular teaching, yet managed to keep the days productive.
