TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE 1 : Week 5 (8/9/25 - 12/9/25)


This week, I focused on teaching polygons to Class VIII‑A, covering a range of subtopics. On Day 19 (Monday), I taught Problems on Outer Angles (Lesson Plan 26). Day 20 (Wednesday) was about Regular Polygons and their properties (Lesson Plan 27). On Day 21 (Thursday), I guided students through the Construction of Regular Polygons (Lesson Plan 28,29). Finally, on Day 22 (Friday), I handled Problems on Regular Polygons (Lesson Plan 30). Each lesson built on the previous one, helping students deepen their understanding of polygons.

My teaching experience this week was engaging and interactive. Students actively participated in discussions, solved problems confidently, and enjoyed quizzes and word puzzles during substitution periods. I made sure to clear their doubts and gave extra home activities for reinforcement. Their enthusiasm and cooperation made the classes smooth and productive.

A highlight of the week was the Fire Force Unit visit on Day 21, which provided an eye‑opening emergency awareness session. I learned how to use a fire extinguisher, perform CPR, handle water safety, and assist someone who’s choking. This practical training boosted my confidence in managing emergencies and added a valuable dimension to my teaching practice.

My daily routine remained consistent: I arrived by 9:15 AM, attended prayers, marked attendance, distributed noon meals, and left school around 3:50–3:55 PM. Substitution periods.

Overall, Week 5 was productive and fulfilling. Balancing theoretical geometry lessons with practical emergency training helped me grow as a teacher. The high level of student participation made my classes effective and enjoyable, and I feel more confident in managing both academic and safety‑focused sessions.

  An Online talk series on "Cases and Causes that Truly Matter" the free voice was organised by Peet Memorial Training College, Mavelikara, on August 2nd,2024, at 6:30 PM. The session was very insightful, focusing on the memoirs of special education, and was led by Dr. Anu Mukund, a lecturer in English at the National Institute of Speech and Hearing, Thiruvananthapuram.

COMATICS: Commerce & Mathematics Association Inauguration 2K24

 COMEX and NUMINA, the Commerce and Mathematics Associations of Peet Memorial Training College, Mavelikara, jointly launched 'COMATICS 2K24' on October 2024 at the College Auditorium.  The event started with a prayer song by the college choir, followed by a warm welcome by Ms. Aiswarya M., Mathematics Association Secretary. Dr. Renginy K.R., Commerce teacher-in-charge, presided over the session. The principal, Dr. Alie Molly Verghis, inaugurated both associations, highlighting maths' universal relevance and commerce's daily impact. She praised the joint inauguration, showcasing maths' correlation with other subjects. The programme featured a logo reveal for NUMINA and felicitations from college union leaders.
