TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE 2 : Week 6 (19/1/26-23/1/26)
The week from 19/1/26 to 23/1/26 focused on the mathematics unit Parallelograms for Standard VIII, Division A from Lesson plan 26-30. On Monday (19/1/26), the lesson was on the area of a parallelogram (3rd period), where activities were used to show that the area remains the same for different base‑height combinations; students actively applied the formula and participated well, making the lesson effective in grasping the area concept. On Tuesday, the 7th‑period class involved teaching Class X the construction of an incircle, which was understood clearly by students and made the class smooth and interactive, proving the lesson effective and the experience productive. Wednesday’s lesson (21/1/26) dealt with rhombuses, using cut‑outs and charts to differentiate rhombuses from squares and teach the area formula; students responded actively, showing clear understanding, and the visual aids made the concept simple and interesting, rendering the lesson engaging and effective. Thursday’s session (22/1/26) focused on constructing a parallelogram when its area is given, employing a PPT to illustrate parallelograms with the same base but different areas, followed by construction steps; 8 students attempted the problems actively, and the PPT helped visualize the area application, though a few students needed more practice. Friday’s lesson centered on rhombus construction problems, guiding students to construct a rhombus from its given area using diagonal equations; students worked carefully, discussed review questions, and applied the concept confidently, making the lesson effective and successful. Thus completed 30 lesson plan with this week. Overall, the week emphasized problem‑based and visual teaching methods (PPTs, cut‑outs, group activities) that promoted active participation and conceptual clarity, with most lessons judged effective but with occasional need for extra guidance on specific topics like midpoints of diagonals.
