One Day Field Trip 2024 Travelogue

The field trip for the First Semester B.Ed. students was conducted to Thiruvananthapuram on 27 September 2024. The journey commenced at 6:24 a.m. from the college, and breakfast was arranged at Hotel Bismillah, Nilamel, Kollam District. The trip began with a prayer led by Dr. Elizabeth Joshua, and the journey followed the Thazhakara–Adoor–Kottarakara–Vamanapuram–Kazhakuttom–Thiruvallam route.

The first destination was the Kerala Arts and Crafts Village, Vellar, which was reached at 10:19 a.m. The village offered valuable exposure to Kerala’s rich artistic heritage through live demonstrations of crafts such as pottery, handloom weaving, woodwork, and bamboo products. Students were divided into groups to explore various sections showcasing traditional artefacts including textiles, statues, musical instruments, jute and metal products. The visit provided meaningful insight into the preservation of traditional crafts and support for local artisans. The group departed from the village at 1:11 p.m.

Lunch was arranged at The Authentic Malabari Dum Biriyani Hotel, Kazhakuttom, where students actively participated in serving and cleaning, demonstrating teamwork and cooperation. Despite limited space, the group managed the situation efficiently. The next destination was Lulu Mall, Thiruvananthapuram, reached at 3:30 p.m., where students spent time exploring shops, enjoying the ambience, and engaging in recreational activities. The group left Lulu Mall at 6:30 p.m.

On the return journey, dinner was taken at Hotel Nice, Kottiyam, and the team reached the college at 10:55 p.m. The field trip included 45 students accompanied by four teachers Dr. Mumthas S, Dr. Velayudhan T. Nair, Dr. Elizabeth Joshua, and Dr. Renjany. The trip was enjoyable and enriching, filled with music, interaction, photography, and shared experiences.
