Teaching Practice Phase 1: Week 1(21/7/25 - 26/7/25)
My teaching practice week was an immersive experience that let me step into the classroom and feel the pulse of real‑world education. I joined a school where I got to handle lessons on Square Identities for Standard VIII, manage daily routines like prayers and meal duties, and interact with energetic young learners. The week was designed to build my confidence, sharpen my instructional skills, and understand the joy of guiding students through mathematical concepts like the square of sums. Every day brought new challenges and rewarding moments that shaped my growth as an educator.
1. Day 1 (21 July)
The week kicked off with a Moon Day celebration (observed on July 20 but held on July 21, the day I joined). I assisted teachers with arrangements, helped serve lunch, and taught my first 6th‑period class on Square of Sums from the chapter Square Identities. Students listened attentively, and their positive response made the debut lesson wonderful and confidence‑boosting. The day was meaningful, enriching, and set the tone for my teaching journey.
2. Day 2 (25 July, Friday)
After a three‑day holiday break (including the demise of former Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, a district holiday in Alappuzha, and Vavu observance), I returned with renewed energy. I taught Lesson 2 on Square of Sums to VIII‑A in Period 2, using a geometric model of square of Sums and activity‑based learning. The class was lively, students engaged actively, and I gained confidence in managing the classroom and making math visual and interesting.
3. Day 3 (26 July, Saturday)
I arrived on time, signed the register, and followed Monday’s timetable. In the 6th period, I delivered Lesson Plan 3 on square of sums after checking prior knowledge; the session was calm and comfortable. I also took a substitution in a UP class (7th period), making it interactive with tricky questions. Students participated freely, asked doubts confidently, and showcased their abilities, giving me a refreshing, joyful experience with younger learners. The day ended with completing regular duties.
The week was a blend of celebrations, lesson deliveries, and interactive engagements that strengthened my teaching skills, boosted my confidence, and filled me with responsibility and joy in guiding young minds through mathematics.
